Established in 2010, the Squids have developed a well connected network of past and present players who like to enjoy their time off the field as much as they do on it. Traditionally a large portion of their roster has been made up of ex Otago and Canterbury University students returning home to Auckland, or moving to the big smoke in search of greener pastures. However, they welcome a vast array of new players each season. They’re a “socially” competitive team and have experienced success in recent time winning the Auckland Under 85kg Championship in 2016 and 2018 and the Bondi 10's in 2019. In 2020 they made the final of the National Barbarians U85kg Competition at Eden Park and live on Sky Sport narrowly going down. After this success 2021 sees them with an Auckland and National title in their sights.
